I am finally back from vacation. These past two weeks have been tiring, expensive, chaotic but most of all REALLY FUCKING AWESOME.
Budapest: Nice weather. I did, however, get gypped on the taxi ride over to the hostel. We also got rear ended and the driver just kept complaining to me about the guy who hit him. Honestly, it was the driver's fault. He was tailgating and then braked all of the sudden and the car in back of him couldn't react fast enough, but whatever. I was glad to get out of that car. The hostel we stayed at was kinda ghetto but the people were really cool and we ended up going out with them the last night. The exchange rate was CRAZY. $1 = 213 Hungarian Forints! Cheap, cheap drinking. Half a liter of really good german beer was a little more than a dollar. I should've stocked up on my souvenirs there but oh well. Budapest is actually dubbed one of the most romantic cities in Europe. I definitely saw my fair share of couples making out in public. It was too amazingly beautiful at night so a part of me isn't that annoyed.
Paris: EXPENSIVE. ASSHOLES. SAVE YOUR MONEY. The hostel we stayed at sucked. The outlets in our room didn't work and I went downstairs to comlain and the front desk guy said, "Can't you live without it for two nights?" I actually couldn't because I needed to plug my computer in so I could finish my damn paper. How would that jackass feel if I went to his house and cut off his electricity? There were some cool moments too, though. Went to the Louvre and saw my good friend Mona. =) Also went to Notre Dame and went up the Eiffel Tower at night. Talk about romantic. That was one of the rare instances where I would kiss someone in public. Sober anyway.
Amsterdam: One of my favorite cities. Not just because I could legally buy prostitutes and get high but the city is so attractive with all of its canals and architecture. Sure, all the canals make it a little hard to navigate your way home high, but still. We actually didn't do much because a lot of our time was spent at the Heineken Experience. We became friends with one of the workers and he kept hooking it up with free beers so left trashed. Met this guy from DC who I had an disgustingly large amount of things in common with. I told him this random ass line from Fresh Prince and he finished it. CRAZY.
Berlin: We opted to stay at a cheaper hostel. We didn't know that meant opting to stay somewhere in the woods. On the way there, I was expecting to get handed a tent and directions to the outhouse. The owner was cool but it was just a pain getting there and back since it wasn't walking distance from anything popping. Since I had been there before and was also sick I didn't really do much. Cindy, Vivian and I went to Potsdam and visited a palace where they made us wear slippers during the tour and that was about it.
Barcelona: Definitely my favorite city thus far. The people are fun and friendly an the weather was terrific. We went to the beach. Yes, THE BEACH. Did massive amounts of sightseeing. Antoni Gaudi is THE MAN of Barcelona. I don't really remember things we saw that didn't involve the guy. The hostel we stayed at was my best hostel experience. Met A SHITLOAD of people from Canada. We got took at some restaurant and spent way more money than we had anticipated. KC and I went to this place called La Champañeria where they sold sandwiches and champagne. Man, SO GOOD and definitely the best deal ever. Five euros for the both of us! The champagne was only like 1.70 euro a bottle so I bought my fair share. We ended up drinking most of it at the hostel instead of bringing it back with us. haha
So that was my spring break more or less. It is good to be back though. Hot showers are at my fingertips and I have my own room. And of course, ass on demand. ;o)
